Hero MotoCorp and Honda have shared their two-wheeler sales figures for 2024 and the former has a comfortable lead over the Japanese manufacturer.
As we set off into 2025, two of the biggest-wheeler brands in the world, Hero MotoCorp and Honda, have shared their sales numbers for 2024. Hero has a comfortable lead over the Japanese brand, having sold 59 lakh two-wheelers against Honda’s 58 lakh units sold in the entire year.
2024 two-wheeler sales: Hero vs Honda
Hero MotoCorp sold a total of 59,11,065 two-wheelers in 2024 between January and December, while during the same period in 2023, the company’s two-wheeler sales stood at 54,99,524 units, translating to a growth of 7.5 percent. Honda, on the other hand, sold 58,01,498 units in 2024, registering a double-digit growth of 32 percent.
For Hero, its commuter motorcycles make up for the latest chunk of sales, such as the Splendor, which has been the best-seller for the company for decades. For Honda, the Activa continues to do its magic as being the chosen one for the brand in India.

Hero vs Honda: EV sales
Hero has one offering in its EV lineup — the Vida, which saw an update recently, renamed the V2. The scooter is available in three trims – Lite, Plus, and Pro – and this segment contributed to sales of 46,662 units during CY24. The Hero Vida competes with the Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1, Ather Rizta, and the TVS iQube in the EV segment.
Honda is new to the electric scooter segment and has launched two EVs — the all-electric Activa e and the QC1. The former gets swappable batteries only and will be available in three cities – Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi – while the QC1 will be available in other cities as well. Bookings for both scooters are now open and this year will reveal if the Activa electric can remake the magic the Activa stirred up decades ago.
