Breakdancer Raygun returning to job as college professor after Olympics fiasco

It is back to work for Australia’s globetrotting B-Girl Raygun, who returned home after her viral Paris Olympics performance and a European vacation partying with superstars.

Raygun is lecturer and researcher at Macquarie University in the Department of Media, Communications and Creative Arts, and is expected to return to campus.

The university confirmed Raygun will be returning to her teaching duties later this week.

She touched down in Sydney on Monday, the same day she was ranked world number one breaker by the World Dance Sport Federation

The ranking has not gone down without controversy after her Olympics performance made waves around the world.

The federation issued a statement saying the ranking had drawn attention because Raygun and B-Girl Riko had both earned 1000 points at their events.

Despite the same points being awarded, a spokesperson from the federation said Raygun’s result from the Continental Championship took precedence and ranked higher than Riko.

But Raygun revealed on The Project last week that she would be stepping away from competing for a while.

“Not really wanting to be in the spotlight, breaking, competing,” she said.

“It’s been nice. It’s been a bit of a process to try and start dancing again. Like, that’s actually been tough. You know, it was my medicine, and then it turned into my source of stress.

“So, I’m really happy that it gets to go back to being my medicine. I can kind of finally feel free again. I’m looking forward to breaking, but, no, I don’t think I’ll compete for a while.”

Raygun’s moves caught the attention of billionaire Sir Richard Branson who invited Raygun on a Virgin Voyages Celebration Voyage sailing in the Mediterranean.

She could be seen having fun and showing Sir Branson her iconic kangaroo move, with the Virgin founder saying he invited the breaker on the luxury ship to celebrate her creativity and individuality.

Raygun also recently shared photos on social media partying with Boy George and dining with Sir Branson and Sonia Kruger while she has been holidaying in Europe.
