Olivia Wilde, Rosie Perez, Beanie Feldstein & More Attend Chanel x Tribeca ‘Through Her Lens’ Lunch
“This is the beginning,” said Beanie Feldstein, as she stopped on the red carpet outside of Locanda Verde Tuesday afternoon. Feldstein is part of the jury of this year’s Through Her Lens program, from Chanel and Tribeca, and her three-day commitment was underway with the start of the annual Through Her Lens luncheon.
Feldstein, who paid homage to Elaine Stritch in a pantless Chanel jacket and tights moment, was joined at the lunch by Jane Rosenthal, Olivia Wilde, Rosie Perez, Gayle King, Whitney Peak, Havana Rose Liu, Antonia Gentry, Chase Sui Wonders, AnnaSophia Robb, Chloe Fineman, Ella Hunt, Francesca Scorsese, Geraldine Viswanathan, Gayle Rankin, Jessica Seinfeld, Leslie Mann, Maggie Rogers, Maude Apatow, Misty Copeland, Patty Jenkins, Rachel Hilson, A.V. Rockwell and more.
Feldstein is a first-time juror this year, which reunites her with her “Booksmart” director Wilde, also a juror.
“We come in at the end, on Thursday, and we get to hear the pitching and meet with the filmmakers and then make our decision,” Feldstein said. “This is my first time participating so I’m really excited.”
Sui Wonders is also participating in this year’s program, as a mentor.
“When I was in college, I went to film school, and having cool women in the industry to talk to and about what it exactly looks like in the real world was so inspiring,” she said. “To be on the other side is very surreal.”
“It’s so needed and necessary to have these filmmaker events,” Robb said. “They really foster an environment that encourages conversation. Being able to create those connections and it feels more protected and grounded, and you can have real conversations about your industry.”
Hunt is gearing up to release her new movie “Saturday Night,” about the making of the first episode of “Saturday Night Live,” in which she plays Gilda Radner.
“It’s such a behind-the-scenes movie about making a piece of [art], in this instance TV, but I think a lot of people can relate to the stakes and the adrenaline being in that kind of environment,” she said. “And the chaos.”
Before sitting down to a first course of beets and arugula salad, the guests sipped iced tea as they mingled throughout the TriBeCa restaurant. Feldstein and Robb caught up, Hunt and Liu chatted and Apatow, who’d arrived with mom Mann, sat down with Gentry and Viswanathan.
Tuesday’s lunch marked the 10th anniversary of Chanel’s partnership with Tribeca for the Through Her Lens program, which supports emerging women filmmakers.
