Colonial Forge’s Loescher places second at Oatlands
Colonial Forge senior Kate Loescher finished second in the Varsity A girls’ race at Saturday’s Oatlands Invitational cross country meet in Leesburg.
Loescher covered the 5,000-meter course in 18:19, trailing only Charlottesville junior Elaine Pierce (18:00). Teammate Ava Pendley was 46th (19:55) out of 520 female finishers, helping the Eagles finish 19th out of 76 teams.
Former Brooke Point standout Brady Brennan, now competing for Saint John Paul the Great, finished eighth (16:04) out of 610 finishers in the boys’ Varsity A race. Steven Niese’s 96th-place showing (17:10) helped Colonial Forge’s boys place 29th.

King George 186, Spotsylvania 191: Zach Koch carded a 39 to win individual medalist honors and lead King George to a Battlefield District win at Fredericksburg Country Club.

St. Anne’s-Belfield 2, Fredericksburg Academy 0: The Falcons lost their first game of the season in nonconference action to visiting St. Anne’s-Belfield. The Saints took the lead two minutes before halftime, then notched another early in the fourth quarter. Fredericksburg Academy (4-1) entertains Foxcroft on Tuesday.
