Pune To Mumbai Travel Time Will Reduce To 90 Minutes! – Trak.in

The Shivdi-Nhava Sheva Sea Link, also known as Atal Setu, will soon connect with a new expressway linking Solapur and Satara. This Rs 17,000 crore project will reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Pune by up to 90 minutes, transforming the region’s transportation infrastructure. Let’s dive into the key features and benefits of this ambitious project.

Significant Reduction in Travel Time

Currently, the journey between Mumbai and Pune takes around 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic conditions. However, with the new expressway in place, this time is expected to be cut down to just 2 hours, offering faster and more convenient travel for commuters and transporters alike. According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the expressway will reduce travel time by 75 to 90 minutes, significantly enhancing the connectivity between these two important cities.

A Multi-Lane Highway to Support Growing Traffic

The 130-kilometer-long expressway will have eight lanes, allowing for smoother traffic flow and faster travel. It will provide direct links between key areas such as Atal Setu, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), Pune, Solapur, and Satara, enabling quicker and more efficient movement of goods and people. As urbanization and industrialization continue to grow along the Mumbai-Pune corridor, this new infrastructure will help alleviate traffic congestion.

Tackling Existing Traffic Challenges

Frequent traffic jams, particularly in the Ghat areas of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, have long been a concern for commuters. The ongoing construction of a ‘missing lane’ in the Lonavala region aims to reduce congestion, but even this may not be enough to fully address future traffic growth. By connecting Atal Setu to Solapur and Satara, the new expressway will provide an alternative route, further easing the burden on the current expressway.

Future Highway Projects in the Pipeline

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, recently announced plans for another highway that will link Atal Setu with Bengaluru, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Pune’s Ring Road. This new 14-lane highway is expected to further enhance connectivity in the region, benefiting commuters and industries alike.

Conclusion

The upcoming expressway connecting Atal Setu to Solapur and Satara is set to revolutionize travel between Mumbai and Pune. With faster travel times, reduced traffic congestion, and improved connectivity, this project is poised to enhance economic growth and ease transportation challenges for years to come.
