Oman will continue to champion peace and stability globally, says Sayyid Badr in UN

Muscat – This event is part of the ongoing 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In his opening speech, H.E. Albusaidi emphasized Oman’s strong commitment to multilateral action and international cooperation, asserting that these principles are vital for achieving the objectives of the Future Summit. He highlighted that dialogue, realism, and mutual respect are the cornerstones of Oman’s foreign policy, which are essential in tackling the complex global crises of today.

“The challenges we face require innovative methodologies based on sustainable development,” he stated, urging nations to adopt policies that prioritize future generations and foster a more sustainable world. He also underscored the critical importance of international peace and security as foundational elements for global stability, advocating for preventive diplomacy as an effective means of conflict resolution.

During a dialogue session titled ‘Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’, H.E. Albusaidi noted the pivotal role of platforms like the United Nations in fostering comprehensive dialogue. He called attention to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, underscoring the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis and the broader implications for regional stability.

He warned against the ‘Cold War mentality’ that perpetuates division and emphasized that true resolution in the Middle East hinges on open dialogue with all parties involved, including those labelled as adversaries. Stressing the importance of addressing the root causes of conflict, he advocated for a two-state solution as a pathway to lasting peace.

His Excellency stressed the importance of starting to implement creative policies that focus on sustainable development, pointing out that the ‘Oman Vision 2040’ is consistent with these efforts, and the Sultanate of Oman continues to support youth as a driving force for building the future.

His Excellency also pointed to the transformative power of technology and digital cooperation in overcoming pressing environmental and social challenges, reiterating Oman’s commitment to supporting youth as the driving force behind future development. He concluded by affirming that the Sultanate of Oman will continue to champion initiatives that enhance cooperation and promote justice on the global stage.
