Stakeholders stress mobility, economic growth at Abuja fair — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

Stakeholders, who gathered at the 19th Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF), have stressed the need to improve on the need for Nigeria to prioritise transportation, trade financing, and taxation amid the push for economic growth.

The stakeholders, at the opening ceremony of the event which is hosting about 100,000 attendees, noted that industries in the country needed to explore new markets, establish valuable partnerships, and gain insights into the latest trends and advancements.

President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Emeka Obegolu, alongside dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment Doris Anite, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who were represented at the conference, highlighted the significance of mobility in the modern global economy, emphasising its role in overcoming logistical challenges, reducing operational costs, and driving economic growth.

He pointed out that the fair, a premier multi-sectoral event in Africa, offers exhibitors opportunities to showcase products, enter emerging markets, and establish business relationships.

“The 2024 edition of the AITF is unique, with over 500 exhibitors from various sectors displaying more than 10,000 products to nearly 100,000 attendees over the next 12 days,” Obegolu said.

He also unveiled the inaugural National Policy Fellows Award, an initiative to recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s economic development across sectors such as academia, business and public service.

A key feature of this year’s event is the spotlight on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations, with exhibitions from sectors like fintech, sustainable transportation, and environmental safety.

Speaking at the event, National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Dele Kelvin Oye, lauded ACCI for its efforts in promoting trade and innovation.

He acknowledged the fair’s role in boosting Nigeria’s economy and enhancing its position in regional and global trade.

Oye also underscored the importance of the programme’s theme in addressing the complexities of the country’s economic transformation.
