The Gucci Spring/Summer 2025 Show Freezes Time
“A precise moment in time. A moment to seize and live to the fullest. It’s the moment the sun dives into the sea at the end of an August day. It’s the moment we find ourselves,” creative director Sabato De Sarno eloquently said, introducing the Gucci Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Unveiled at the iconic Triennale Milano on September 20, 2024, this collection is an ode to capturing those fleeting, perfect moments—moments that define the essence of living.

Gucci’s growing partnership with the Triennale emphasizes the alignment between the brand’s cultural values and the museum’s commitment to integrating art, design, architecture, and modern perspectives. After its men’s show and the introduction of the Cuore archive, Gucci converted the space into a corridor illuminated with the colors of a summer sunset, guiding visitors from pure white to Gucci Rosso Ancora. Each room, bathed in its own unique shade, provided an immersive sensory experience, reflecting the moments De Sarno aimed to capture.

In reflecting on his journey with the brand, De Sarno declared, “A year later, this collection shows an accomplished journey of construction. Moment after moment, I have built my ideas for Gucci. A casual grandeur that takes shape through my obsessions.” These obsessions manifest in his signature combination of tailoring, lingerie, leather, and nods to 1960s silhouettes, all while continuing to explore Gucci’s storied heritage.
Tailoring is at the heart of De Sarno’s collection, seamlessly blending classic and modern styles. The collection features trousers designed to be worn with sneakers, blurring the lines between men’s and women’s fashion. The color palette includes Gucci Rosso Ancora, grey, white, green, and touches of orange, paying homage to the brand’s iconic aesthetic. Structured jackets, A-line skirts, and elegant coats, all adorned with the GG Monogram, showcase couture-like craftsmanship while styling casually with denim and tank tops.

Leather, another hallmark of Gucci’s DNA, appears in glossy finishes, while lace-trimmed lingerie peeks through slightly open coats. The collection hero is the Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag, updated with contemporary elements, including collaborations with Japanese artists celebrating 60 years of Gucci in Japan.

The runway highlighted Gucci’s heritage, from bamboo-inspired jewelry and iconic handbags to the Horsebit motif, transforming shoes and accessories. A headscarf, reimagined from Gucci Flora, added a final flourish to this homage to timeless elegance. With “Casual Grandeur,” De Sarno continues to build upon Gucci’s legacy, blending past and present, high fashion and everyday wear, into a seamless celebration of life’s most perfect moments.
