Juliette Binoche Teases More Coco Chanel at Courrèges Paris Fashion Week Show

She may have played Coco Chanel in AppleTV+’s “The New Look,” but Juliette Binoche is now a fashion show regular, and made the front row at Courrèges’ early morning show during Paris Fashion Week.

The series, which explored the designers’ rivalry against the backdrop of the Nazi occupation of France, aired earlier this year leaving viewers wanting more.

Binoche said a second season is in the works.

“We don’t know exactly what date it’s gonna start, but they’re negotiating quite a lot, and for too long a time in my opinion,” she said. “I don’t know when it’s gonna be announced. They’re still working on it, but they’re still on the horse, you know, trying to do it.”

Binoche said playing Chanel opened her up to attend more fashion shows. “It’s my way to continue this journey,” she said of becoming a front row regular in the past few seasons.

“I am always wearing new clothes because of what I’m doing and festivals, and I appreciate the lines, and the spirit they’re working differently in different houses. I love Courrèges because it has this kind of vintage touch, and they’re quite structured. It’s always simple and elegant at the same time.”

Playing Chanel also helped her understand the pressure that designers are under to balance creativity with business. “It’s a lot of pressure with the creation and the selling and trying to be still modern all the time throughout the evolution of fashion,” she said.

Courrèges artistic director Nicolas Di Felice served up a sonic feast with an undulating lake of beads which created wave-like sounds that washed over the audience, paired with his monochrome take on sensual minimalism.

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz also made the show hand-in-hand, while K-pop star Wooyoung of Ateez rounded out the guests.
