MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE DISCUSSED WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE WORLD BANK THE REFORMS IN THE SECTOR

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry discussed with representatives of the World Bank the reforms in the sector. The ministry’s press service told INFOTAG that Secretary General Sergiu Gherciu spoke about the initiative to create agricultural chambers, develop irrigation systems and adapt to climate change.

He described the creation of agricultural chambers as a priority, as it “will contribute to strengthening the organizational capacity of farmers, thus creating favorable conditions for the development of the agricultural sector.”

“The Chambers of Agriculture will play a key role in facilitating access to information, training, advice and technical support, which are fundamental aspects for farmers’ competitiveness and resilience. We sent delegations of farmers to Slovenia, Germany and Austria to learn from their experiences. Subsequently, we organized meetings on the territory with our farmers, where we explained to them the basis on which these chambers will work,” Gherciu said.

According to him, the work is already underway to identify places for the creation of ten agricultural chambers, which will include all farmers, regardless of the size of their farms.
