PROFOH announces participation in 2024 IMF, World Bank annual meetings

A US-based humanitarian organisation, Professionals For Humanity, PROFOH, has announced its participation at the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund, IMF, and the World Bank Group, WBG.

Executive Director of PROFOH, Dr. Gbemuotor Kama, made the announcement in a statement, ahead of the annual meetings scheduled to take place from Monday, October 21 to Saturday, October 26.

Kama stressed the key role played by the World Bank Group, WBG, in the global effort to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity.

“One of the ways the organization works towards achieving these goals is by calling on citizens from around the globe to collaborate on a range of issues related to poverty reduction, international economic development and finance, building human capital, and strengthening resilience.

“The World Bank Group (WBG) plays a key role in the global effort to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity,” he said.

According to him, the primary opportunity to bolster awareness and participation on these topics and advance the agenda on key issues is through the Spring and Annual Meetings.

He further stated that PROFOH has a long history for collaboration with the two global institutions starting from the World Bank Board of Governors meeting held in Tokyo Japan Oct, 2012.

He lauded the participation of the organisation at the IMF/ World Bank Spring Meetings of April, 2013 where it was represented by board members, Angela Chester Johnson and Dr. Conrado Ordonez, and received a thank you letter from the global financial institutions for quality participation.

“Also worthy to mention is our organization’s membership of the Bank Global Partnership for Social Accountability (GPSA) – is a coalition of donors, governments and CSO partners launched by the World Bank in 2012 with the goal to improve development results by supporting capacity building for enhanced citizen feedback and participation.

“As part of its focus is the provision of strategic long-term support to civil society organizations that strive to provide social accountability programs.

“For the most part, our participation is driven by the provision of health care delivery, socialized medicine in developing countries and poverty reduction activities globally.

“Professionals For Humanity (PROFOH) is a 25 years global non-profit, medical humanitarian organization, incorporated in USA, UK, Ghana Ireland, Nigeria, Germany, Jamaica, Nepal, India and South Africa with presence in 21 other nations.

“PROFOH has several strategic partners which includes two UK government agencies, the United Kingdom International Health Management Association (UKIHMA) and the British Integrated Solutions Export Network (BISEN), European Centre for Leadership and Entrepreneurship Education (ECLEE) France, several Universities and UN agencies including UNODC, WHO Stop TB partnership, also USAID of the United States and many more.
