Community growing project Incredible Edible Inverness hosts harvest picnic

Apple pressing and sampling locally-harvested produce were on the menu at a celebration of another growing year in Inverness.
The community growing project, Incredible Edible Inverness, hosted its second harvest picnic at the city’s Bellfield Park.
The group was first launched in 2020 to meet demand for locally grown foods and was also driven by a wish to improve otherwise often overlooked areas while bringing communities together.

Feis The Music provided music at the Incredible Edible Inverness harvest picnic.
The group was joined at the free harvest picnic by Knocknagail Hub, Fair Trade Inverness, Inverness Tool Library, Seeds of Scotland, The Bumblebee Conservation Trust and Cycle Mobility.
People were able to enjoy some of the locally-harvested produce on a sharing table and cups of tea as well as sharing information, trying out various bicycles and listening to music from Feis The Music.
The event will now be held annually.

Incredible Edible Inverness is part of the UK-wide Incredible Edible Network which originated in the West Yorkshire town of Todmorden.
Previous project have included joining forces with Inverness Foodstuff to grow fruit, herbs and vegetables at the Three Graces statues by the River Ness.
