Minecraft Movie Clip Shared, Shows Crafting

Key Takeaways

  • Minecraft Live just shared a scene from the upcoming Minecraft movie.
  • Here, we see some of the characters crafting items.
  • Similar to the first trailer, fans aren’t responding well to the scene.

We just got our first look at a scene in the Minecraft movie, giving us another look at the live-action adaptation after the trailer dropped. However, it seems to be going down about as well as that first trailer, with many fans still not onboard with the film.

This scene was just shared at Minecraft Live, and shows three characters – including Jack Black as Steve – crafting items. Unsurprisingly, it’s much the same tone as the trailer we got earlier this month, and it seems to have done little to win over fans who aren’t big on the tone of what we’ve seen so far.

First Scene From Minecraft Movie Shared At Minecraft Live

In this clip, we see how live-action Minecraft is handling the crafting aspect of the game. It’s pretty simple – the characters put the parts on the table, whack it with a hammer, and it turns into an item.

Of course, most of the attention is on the humour, and fans really don’t appear to be sold on this. Many aren’t keen on the visuals either, unfavourably comparing it to the production value of an SNL sketch.

A live-action Minecraft movie was always going to be a hard sell, given the aesthetics of the games. Many have questioned why it’s being made like this at all, and that feeling has only grown since we’ve actually had a look at the movie ourselves.

This isn’t the only issue that the Minecraft movie has faced. Shortly after the trailer dropped, streamer Valkyrae said that while filming her cameo in the film, she saw Jason Momoa “mistreat” staff. She elaborated, saying that she saw him get “angry, really mad, and yelling” at the crew.

The Minecraft movie is opening in theatres next April.
