Retired Andhra University professor figures in Stanford’s World’s Top 2 pc scientists list-Telangana Today

Hyderabad: The former Head of Geology department, Andhra University, Prof. (retd) Nandipati Subba Rao has figured in the world top 2 percent scientists’ 2024 list compiled by Stanford University, US.

The university released the rankings on September 17, covering 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. These rankings evaluate scientists based on standardized citation metrics (h-index), highlighting the most influential researchers worldwide.

Prof. Rao, now settled in Hyderabad was ranked at 3,766 out of 2,23,152 scientists around the world. There were 5,352 scientists from India in the list, in which Prof. Rao stood at the 31st position. This was for the fifth time since 2020 that he made it to the top 2 percent scientists list.

Prof. Rao’s research focuses primarily on Hydrogeology, emphasizing quality, chemistry, contamination of groundwater, and health risk assessment. So far, he published 130 research papers in the reputed national and international journals. He received several awards, including the National Mineral Award, State Scientist Award, State Best Teacher Award from the Andhra Pradesh government. He got a place in the Limca Book of Records (2013).
