UN Secretary General Thanks Cambodia for Its Significant Contributions of UN Peacekeeping Operations Worldwide

New York (FN), Sep. 29 – On 28 September 2024, on the occasion of attending the 79th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Cambodian Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea had a meeting with António Guterres, UN Secretary General at the UN Headquarters, in New York.
Cambodian top diplomat informed that Cambodia was pleased to warmly welcome four official visits of the UN under secretary general between May and July this year. This reflects the close relations and cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the United Nations.
Furthermore, the foreign minister also informed that despite being a small country that has endured decades of war, Cambodia now proudly contributes troops to UN Peacekeeping Operations.
On the occasion, the secretary general thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia and the foreign minister for Cambodia’s significant contributions of UN Peacekeeping Operations worldwide. He also expressed his satisfaction for the close cooperation between Cambodia and the UN in various fields and praised Cambodia for its remarkable socio-economic development.
The two sides also exchanged views on accelerated efforts towards achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
