Update on WR Antonio Williams, Troy Stellato injuries

(This story was updated to add new information.)

CLEMSON — Clemson football wide receiver Antonio Williams exited Saturday’s 40-14 win against Stanford with an injury in the third quarter.

The injury occurred during the Tigers’ opening drive in the second half. Williams went into the medical tent for a few minutes, exited and caught passes without his helmet on. Then he went on the stationary cycle and did not return to the game.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said after the game that Williams got a little “banged-up” and his status will be day to day.

Williams entered Saturday’s game with 12 receptions for a team-leading 159 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He started for Clemson in every game this season. He was the third Tigers wide receiver out, joining Troy Stellato and Adam Randall.

Swinney also commented on Stellato, saying he was day to day with an injury he suffered during the week. Swinney is optimistic the wideout won’t miss significant time.

Clemson (3-1, 2-0 ACC) defeated Stanford (2-2, 1-1) at Memorial Stadium. The Tigers face Florida State (1-4, 1-3) on the road on Oct. 5 (7 p.m. ET, ESPN).
