Gucci Arrives in Montreal’s Royalmount Luxury Destination

Gucci has opened its first store in Montreal, an 8,700-square-foot shop inside the new Royalmount retail, dining and entertainment lifestyle center.

On Friday, Gucci joined Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, Jimmy Choo, Saint Laurent, Versace, Longchamp and several other designer and high-end brands, along with more moderate players such as Zara, at the Royalmount. The lifestyle destination cut the ribbon on about half of its retail space on Sept. 5 and will continue to open in phases.

The Gucci selection includes handbags, accessories, shoes and ready-to-wear for men and women as well as Gucci Beauty, the brand’s travel collection, and the signature Horsebit 1955 and the Jackie 1961 lines as well as precious leather handbags and the pre-fall and fall collections.

Gucci has designed its newest store with a brushed stainless steel and marble facade, optical marble flooring, clean lines and an understated palette. The space is framed with built-in displays reminiscent of
walk-in closets while stainless steels racks display the diverse product categories.

There are also Italian furnishings and materials designed by Cassina, B&B and Minotti in colors rosso ancora, acid green and acid yellow, aligning with creative director Sabato De Sarno’s contemporary aesthetic and complementing the latest Gucci’s collections. The store was designed using LEED guidelines and principles and to promote energy efficiency.

“The aesthetic dialogue between elements drawn from different places and eras speaks to the house’s core narrative, resulting in a space that is sophisticated and surprising at the same time,” Gucci said in a statement. This is the brand’s fourth stand-alone shop in the country.

Gucci’s boutique is situated in Royalmount’s “Luxury Row” wing. Located in the heart of midtown Montreal, the mixed-use Royalmount development is among the first 100 percent carbon-neutral developments in the Americas. It’s also the largest LEED Gold retail project in Canada.

Conceived and managed by Carbonleo real estate, the first phase of Royalmount to open consists of an 824,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor, two-level complex with retailers, restaurants, entertainment and experiential attractions, an elevated linear park and a 1.8 hectare urban park. Royalmount also offers diverse culinary offerings and cultural programming, and a host of amenities including concierge and valet services, luggage storage and a wine bar.
