Timothee Chalamet Looks Unrecognizable in New Set Photos for A24 Movie

Timothée Chalamet completely transforms into table tennis legend, Marty Reisman, for the upcoming A24 sports drama Marty Supreme.

The photos shared by Deadline show Chalamet adorning a distinct pencil-thin mustache and glasses, while sporting period-specific wardrobe for the upcoming sports drama directed by Josh Safdie. Marty Supreme will be Safdie’s feature film follow-up to the incredibly successful Uncut Gems, released in 2019. Plot details are unknown at this time, but will reportedly be loosely based on the life of table tennis legend Marty Reisman, who won 22 table tennis titles from 1946 to 2002.

In addition to directing the upcoming A24 sports drama, Safdie also penned the script with Ronald Bronstein, and both serve as producers alongside Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, Chalamet, and A24. The film is currently filming in New York City, and will also star Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler the Creator, Odessa A’zion, Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary, and Abel Ferrara. The release date for Marty Supreme hasn’t been announced yet.

Timothée Chalamet is on a Hot Streak

The Oscar-nominated actor seemingly can’t miss as of late. In 2023, Chalamet starred as the iconic Willy Wonka in Paul King’s heartfelt musical Wonka. The film grossed $632 million worldwide, making it the seventh highest-grossing film of that year. Wonka was a hit with critics as well, earning an 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, Chalamet’s success would continue into 2024 when he reprised his role as Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, which is currently the fourth highest-grossing film of 2024. The enormous success of Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic novel inevitably led to the announcement that a third Dune film was in the works, and the director recently confirmed he was working on the script.

However, Chalamet’s 2024 isn’t done yet as he will star as Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic, A Complete Unknown. The film will tell the story of Bob Dylan’s incredible rise to the top of the music charts, and is set in New York City in the early 1960s. A Complete Unknown is directed by James Mangold, fresh off helming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and also stars Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Nick Offerman, and Boyd Holbrook.

The biopic will hit theaters on Dec. 25.
