India vs New Zealand: Jasprit Bumrah named Vice Captain for three-match Tests series – Sports News

India has announced a 15-player team for the upcoming three-Test series against New Zealand which is scheduled to commence from 16 October in Bengaluru. The squad is almost similar to the one that won 2-0 in the recent Test series against Bangladesh. Although the team has been cut short from 16 to 15 players. Yash Dayal has not been chosen as part of the team.

Jasprit Bumrah has been chosen as Vice-Captain

One of the major changes in the squad is selecting Jasprit Bumrah as vice-captain. This post remained vacant during the Bangladesh series when Rohit Sharma led the team. Meanwhile, fast bowler Mohammed Shami has not been chosen for this series as he is recovering from an ankle injury.

New picks in the squad

Pacer Mayank Yadav, who played his first match in T20Is against Bangladesh, has been kept as a travelling reserve, along with three other players: Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, and Nitish Reddy.

New Zealand is not having a good time in Asia as they lost the match by Sri Lanka by 2-0 in their last Test series and are yet to win the match in the subcontinent since their arrival in September. Tom Latham will be leading New Zealand. He has taken over the role of captain from Tim Southee for three matches against India.

The first Test will begin on 16 October in Bengaluru and the next will take place in Pune on 24 October the third one will be held in Mumbai and will commence from 1 November at Wankhede Stadium.
