Scientists link monsoon changes to rising global temperatures | Ratopati

Kathmandu, October 13 — Climate experts have stated that climate change is causing an increase in Earth’s temperature, which is also affecting the monsoon system. As a result of these changes, this year’s monsoon has departed from the country 10 days later than in previous years.

Climate scientist Manjit Dhakal considers the delayed exit of the monsoon as a sign of changes in the monsoon system. He noted that this can be viewed as a response to the effects of climate change, highlighting that the heavy rainfall on September 27 and 28 is indicative of these impacts. However, he emphasizes the need for research into such climate-related risks.

He also mentioned the necessity of implementing environmentally friendly development concepts for sustainable development. “It is essential to prioritize climate adaptation programs,” he stated, citing a report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Meteorologist Bishnu Ghimire also stressed the importance of conducting research to determine whether the delayed monsoon system is a direct effect of climate change. He believes that the fluctuations in the monsoon process could be attributed to the impacts of climate change.
