Chinese giant Alibaba’s Lazada pursing Italian brands like Armani, D&G for SE-Asia expansion

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba’s Lazada has shared its plans on expanding from Europe to now in Southeast-Asian markets through collaborations with premium Italian brands like Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Ferragamo, Tod’s, and more such brands who currently have similar expansion goals. According to media reports, Lazada aims to multiply its e-commerce sales by US $ 100 billion by 2030.

Representatives from over 100 Italian luxury brands engaged in talks with representatives of LazMall Luxury to discuss global expansion opportunities at an event held in Milan, as per reports. LazMall currently connects around 32,000 leading international and local brands with millions of buyers across Europe.

Lazada has shared intentions of supporting exports, shipping and marketing requirements of the Italian brands that are eyeing the consumer segment of the Southeast Asian market. Southeast Asia has a massively spread and populous consumer base making it an important market globally for all industries.

Lazada Group’s chief business officer Jason Chen said, “I am delighted to shine the spotlight on Southeast Asia’s booming e-commerce market and its massive growth potential as well as on how Lazada is positioning to serve as the leading platform for authentic, high-quality products. Here, European brands can tap into a growing and increasingly affluent middle class by partnering with Lazada to establish a stronger export and overseas business expansion strategy”.

He also added that the focus of the firm remains with delivering authentic, personalised shopping experience, and creating a trusted ecosystem for brands and consumers alike.
