District 3 field hockey: Postseason results and schedules

With the fall sports regular season coming to an end, high school field hockey is ready for the postseason.

It begins with two Lebanon County teams that will see L-L league competition to kick off action.

In the Mid-Penn Conference, Palmyra’s regular season has them locked for a top-three seed in the 2A section of District 3 playoffs — and set to begin its postseason with district play.

Here’s the schedule for girls’ field hockey playoffs around the area.

L-L field hockey first round

Manheim Central 2, ELCO 1 (Final/OT)

After finishing the season as Section 3 champions, ELCO saw an opening-round matchup with Manheim Central, who came in with a 12-3-4 record that would give the Raiders’ home-field advantages. After a battle, the Barons won by a score of 2-1 — as a pair of scores by Manheim Central’s Ella Brubaker brought ELCO’s league play to an end. The Raiders’ lone goal was hit by senior Kailen Hibshman, who has led the way as a team captain all campaign.

Elizabethtown 5, Annville-Cleona 0 (Final)

The other game around Lebanon County took place in Elizabethtown, as the Bears hosted Annville-Cleona to open the playoffs. The Dutchmen failed to get on the board, and it led to a run on unanswered scores from E-town. Bears’ sophomore talent Amber Musser put two points on the board, while her sister Faith Musser added another tally against the Dutchmen. Annville-Cleona’s squad finished with 14 saves on the day, but the offense’s slow day was the difference maker.
