Sheridan College Rodeo: The Central Rocky Mountain Region Rodeo Circuit was at Laramie County Community College this past weekend.

Two competitors from Sheridan College placed in the top 3 of their respective event.

In the Saddle Bronc Riding, Jake Schlattman won the long go with an 82 point ride. 

He would follow that up with a 74 point ride in the short-go, to place 2nd overall on the weekend, missing 1st place by 1 point.

As of now, he is in 2nd place in the region standings.

On the women’s side Maci Dehaan won the first round of barrel racing with a time of 16.24 seconds.

She stayed consistent in the short-go with a time of 16.28 seconds, which put her in 4th place overall for the weekend.

Dehaan is currently in 6th place in the regional standings.

The rodeo circuit is in Lamar, Colorado this weekend.

It will mark the end of the fall season, and the halfway point of the 2024-2025 season overall.

Points earned will carry over the winter break.

The spring season usually starts sometime in mid to late March.

Sheridan HS Girls Swimming and Diving: The Sheridan High School Lady Broncs placed 2nd out of 4 teams at a quad meet in Buffalo this past Friday.

On Saturday, the team won the 7-team Buffalo Invitational.

The team won all 3 relay races.

Kortney Fackrell, Liah Fjell and Hannah Mowry won 2 events each.

Sheridan is scheduled to compete this Friday and Saturday at Cheyenne East. 

Sheridan County HS Cross Country: The regional meets are this weekend.

On Friday, Sheridan will race at the 4A East meet at Cheyenne.

Tongue River was supposed to host the 2A East meet, but due to the health hazards posed by the Elk Fire, the meet has been moved to Hulett and will run on Thursday.

The state meet is one week from this Saturday at Cheyenne.

Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche are now 0-3 on the season, after losing at home last night against the New York Islanders 6-2.

The Avs next play tomorrow at home vs. Boston starting at 7:30pm.

Major League Baseball Playoffs: Mark Vientos hit a grand slam in the top of the 2nd inning yesterday, and that made the difference as the New York Mets won on the road 7-3, in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series against the LA Dodgers.

The series is now tied at 1 game each.

Game 3 is scheduled for tomorrow at New York.

In the American League Championship Series, the New York Yankees won Game 1 at home vs. Cleveland 5-2.

Game 2 is today starting at 5:38pm.
