India News | Two Assembly Constituencies to Undergo By-poll on Nov 13 in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 15 (ANI): Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the by-election for two vacant assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday namely Vijaypur assembly seat in Sheopur district and Budhni seat in Sehore district.

The voting for these two constituencies will be held next month on November 13. With the announcement of the poll date, the Model Code of Conduct came into effect in these two constituencies.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Sukhvir Singh said, “ECI has announced the date for the by-election to be held in Vijaypur assembly seat in Sheopur and Budhni assembly seat in Sehore on Tuesday. With the announcement of the dates of by-election, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in these constituencies and it will be strictly followed.”

“Nomination papers will be filled for the by-election from October 18 to October 25. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on October 28. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till October 30. Voting will be held on November 13 and counting of votes will be done on November 23,” he added.

Budhni assembly seat is the bastion of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and it got vacant as he got elected as Member of Parliament (MP) from Vidisha constituency in the recently concluded general election 2024.

Besides, Vijaypur fell vacant after the sitting six-time Congress MLA Ramniwas Rawat quit the grand old party and joined the BJP amid the Lok Sabha elections. Currently, Rawat is the Forest and Environment Minister in the cabinet of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. (ANI)
