The competition’s rigorous program consisted of four rounds over five days, pushing the young musicians to their limits.

Despite being among the youngest participants, Connor and Sienna excelled, advancing to the semi-finals.

Their outstanding performance earned them valuable experience and prize money. The music competition is the country’s most prestigious classical music event for musicians under 14.

To qualify, participants underwent a rigorous audition process, making Connor and Sienna’s achievement all the more impressive.

Connor credits his childhood routine for shaping his discipline and focus. With a mom who’s a classical pianist and teacher, music practice was a daily staple, but schoolwork always came first, and Connor made sure to stay on top of assignments, allowing him to balance academics and music seamlessly.

“We try to have a balance in everything but sometimes do miss out on play dates and parties due to our commitments. My sister and I are also very active in sport, in particular tennis, and compete in Tennis SA tournaments throughout the year.”

Sienna said the competition has taught them the importance of hard-work and perseverance; to set goals and achieve what they want from the process.

“It is not all about winning and not everything is always fair, but it is nice to win. Everyone, including our teachers, were thrilled and excited when we were selected. Needless to say we are all very proud not only because we did so well, but because we were dedicated to reaching our goals and gave of our best.”
