DULUTH — A pair of second-half goals from Anna Tobias helped Minnesota Duluth women’s soccer end a six-game losing streak and defeat Minnesota State Moorhead 2-1 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game on Sunday at Malosky Stadium.

The Bulldogs had the better of a scoreless first half, and Tobias turned the advantage into goals 64 seconds after the break on an assist from Duluth Marshall alum Baamlak Haugen.

It took less than two minutes for the Dragons to equalize, with Madalynn Hopkins scoring in the 48th minute.

Tobias struck again in the 66th minute, with the Lakeville senior getting assists from Duluth Denfeld alum Alyssa Doyle and Esko alum Gwen Lilly.

Jordan Rosenfeld finished with three saves in the UMD net as the Bulldogs held on over the last 22 minutes.

UMD (2-10-1, 2-7-1 NSIC), which last won on Sept. 22 at Minnesota Crookston, will travel to Sioux Falls to start an NSIC weekend on Friday night.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
