A football club has poked fun at its local rivals’ stadium in an online video ahead of a local derby.

On Saturday, Watford were away to Luton Town at the Bedfordshire club’s Kenilworth Road ground.

On its official X page, Watford posted a video with the line “taking in the sights” showing rain pouring down in a dingy alleyway, onto wheelie bins and litter in the street.

However, the Hatters had the last laugh, beating the visiting Hornets 3-0 in the Championship clash.

Watford’s mickey-taking video has been viewed eight million times, although as one fan put it: “Imagine posting this and then losing 3-0 there.”

During the match, with Luton in the lead, the Hatters took the opportunity to post a celebratory photo and poke fun back at their rivals, using the same slogan: “Taking in the sights.”

Luton’s ground is famous for its unconventional entrance boxed in by housing on three sides, with a busway and major road on the other.

The ground underwent a £10m revamp to bring it up to Premier League standards, although the club spent just one season in the top flight.
