NOTES: The struggling Buffs enter the final game of the regular season mired in an 0-2-3 stretch that immediately followed a 10-game unbeaten streak, which tied for the third longest in program history. CU (10-3-4, 4-2-4 Big 12) hasn’t scored a goal in the past three games in a drought that has reached 287 minutes, 22 seconds. The Buffs’ last goal was scored by Ava Priest late in a tie at Texas Tech on Oct. 10. … The Buffs dropped to No. 54 in this week’s RPI. … Last week’s tie at Cincinnati and loss at West Virginia eliminated the Buffs from the race for a top-four finish in the Big 12, which includes a first-round bye at the conference tournament that begins next week. The Buffs still can finish anywhere between fifth and ninth. … After missing five consecutive games and eight out of the previous 10, leading scorer Shyra James came off the bench to play 35 minutes during Sunday’s loss at West Virginia. … James and CU’s other seniors will be honored as part of the final-game festivities at Prentup Field. … Familiar rivals after spending the past 13 seasons together in the Pac-12, the Buffs are unbeaten in their past five matchups (3-0-2) against the Utes. …Utah (8-5-4, 5-3-2 Big 12) has won four of its past five games and is coming off consecutive home wins against Houston and Baylor. … The Big 12 tournament begins Oct. 30 in Kansas City.

NOTES: The Buffs had a three-game win streak, their longest of the season, end with a three-set loss last week at No 13 Arizona State. … The loss at ASU marked just the second time this season the Buffs have been swept. … CU (10-9, 3-4 Big 12) has never played West Virginia. … The Mountaineers (7-11, 1-6 Big 12) are coming off a five-set win at home last week against Central Florida that ended a six-game losing streak. … BYU is tied with local rival Utah at No. 21 in the AVCA top 25. … The Cougars posted a four-set win at home against CU on Sept. 26. Ana Burilovic paced the Buffs with 16 kills. … CU libero Sarah Morton, a transfer from Auburn, reached 1,000 career digs during last week’s win at Arizona. … The Buffs play two matches in Texas next week against TCU and Baylor.
Skiing
Notes: Head coach Jana Weinberger met the media during CU’s winter sports media day on Monday to talk about her club and the prospects of defending their national championship. … Weinberger discussed that challenge despite losing a few of the athletes that helped land that title, the 21st in program history. “Everyone has to do their job, which is to perform to the best of their abilities,” Weinberger said. “We are hoping to avoid DNFs, especially in Alpine. If everybody does their job and skis to their potential, we can achieve our goal.” … Dartmouth will host the NCAA championships March 5-8.

The CU tennis doubles team of Anya Nelson and Ema Bubalo won an ITA regional championship on Tuesday, securing a spot in the NCAA fall championships in November. … The CU women’s golf team finished in a tie for eighth at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Sydney Givens led the Buffs with a three-round score of 1-under 212, finishing in a tie for 14th. … The CU men’s cross country team competed at the pre-national meet on Saturday, finishing 14th.
