The report underscores Uber’s efforts on India’s on-demand economy. After over a decade of operation in the country, Uber has adapted its services to meet various travel needs, ranging from local commutes to intercity journeys and bus services.

As two- and three-wheeler transport becomes more popular for last-mile connectivity, Uber’s Moto and Auto services have become integral to India’s transportation system. In 2024, these services are expected to generate Rs 36,000 crores in economic activity, reflecting Uber’s role in the broader transport ecosystem. These services offer convenient commuting options and contribute to economic growth by connecting individuals to jobs and other opportunities.

Uber has seems to contribute a wider economic footprint by providing earning opportunities. Additionally, Uber Auto and Moto services are projected to drive Rs 36,000 crores in economic activity during the year. Seventy percent of riders reported that Uber has made it easier for them to explore new restaurants and entertainment venues, enhancing local experiences.

Uber estimates to earn 24% more than those working without a platform. Moreover, 65% of drivers believe that using Uber has increased their access to job opportunities.

In terms of safety and access, 95% of female riders cite safety as the primary reason for using Uber, while 84% of women view Uber as the safest option for getting home. The app has also contributed to improving urban mobility, with 84% of users in India stating that it has enhanced transportation quality in their cities, the company claims.

On the issues of congestion and pollution, the report notes that in Delhi, 74% of riders express a preference for electric vehicles, with 56% indicating they are willing to pay more for an EV option. In Bengaluru, 93% of riders see time savings as a significant benefit of using Uber, and 80% believe that the service has improved travel speeds, Uber shared.

Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, commented on the report, stating that Uber continues to contribute to economic growth and is focused on improving mobility options. He highlighted the platform’s impact on supporting drivers, enhancing rider experiences, and promoting sustainable transport solutions.
