Giorgio Armani’s Spring/Summer 2025 show combined Italian glamour with an ode to New York

The only way to welcome Giorgio Armani’s return to the United States was with an evening of stars and formal wear.

The 90-year-old designer unveiled his Spring/Summer 2025 collection, which paid homage to New York’s sartorial heroes through the ages. All while embodying elegance and a classic sense of style.

On October 17 at the Park Avenue Armory, the runway featured 90 looks ranging from loose silhouettes to sophisticated eveningwear.

“New York has always fascinated me. I first became aware of it through the movies I watched as a young man – the movies that shaped the way I saw the world. It later became the first metropolis to embrace my style, a style that symbolized a moment of cultural and social change. That connection made my relationship with the city really special,” Armani told Fashion Network.

He accordingly incorporated a cinematic style to the clothes and atmosphere, hosting around 650 guests. The fashion show began with light colors, such as beige and gray, and stayed true to that sophisticated palette, later adding blush and powder blue. Some garments resembled the style of the 1930s, while others were more contemporary. Silk trousers, fur coats and loose jackets, sumptuous satins in boudoir-inspired suits and draped dresses take on a glamorous glamour. The attention to craftsmanship through intricate embroidery is clearly evident.

The show was expected with great interest, especially due to the fact that it is outside the fashion week calendar and far from Milan, where Armani usually shows his collections. It also marked the reopening of his store, along with the eponymous restaurant and apartments, all on Madison Avenue. Celebrities such as Pamela Anderson and Meghan Fahy sat front row to see Chaka Khan’s moving live performance that closed the evening. | BGNES
