Annual IMF and World Bank Meetings: Sejko Presents Albania’s Economic Developments

Gent Sejko, Governor of Bank of Albania, is participating in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group taking place in Washington, D.C.

These meetings serve as a high-level forum where top decision-makers from the IMF and World Bank, alongside governors and finance ministers from member countries, gather to discuss the latest trends in the global economy.

Representing the Bank of Albania at these meetings is a delegation led by Governor Sejko and other senior officials.

During discussions with representatives from the IMF and World Bank, Governor Sejko presented recent developments in the Albanian economy.

Sejko also held several important meetings with prominent figures in the international finance sector during his attendance.

One key meeting was with Matteo Bugamelli, the Executive Director for Albania at the World Bank, where they emphasized the importance of maintaining strong cooperation between institutions and the ongoing provision of technical assistance in the future.

In addition, during a meeting with the governors of central banks from the Western Balkans, representatives from the World Bank, and Deputy Governor of the Bank of Italy, Chiara Scotti, Sejko focused on advancing the payment system. He highlighted the implementation of the Instant Payment project, which aims to provide real-time payments at a lower cost for citizens, while also addressing the challenges of technological innovation.
