Bulldogs’ Gabby Krause retires from hockey

UMD senior forward Gabby Krause has gone from “out for the season” with an injury to done for her career. The 21-year-old announced her retirement from hockey on Thursday.

“Having to medically retire is something I never wanted to face, but I know this is the right decision for my health and career,” UMD posted on social media on behalf of Krause.

Her complete statement, plus comment from coach Laura Schuler, can be found here:

In 110 games at UMD over three seasons, Krause scored 15 goals and 17 assists. She helped Andover win a Minnesota Class AA state championship in 2020 as a junior captain and was named all-state as a senior captain.

UMD had ruled Krause out for the season at the start of 2024-25, but said she would remain with the team, and that will continue to be the case.
