Natasha Lyonne Shares Fantastic Four Filming Update, Addresses Her Mystery Role

Natasha Lyonne recently avowed that she’s already done filming The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This comes after Elizabeth Olsen professed that Lyonne didn’t need her MCU advice.

Lyonne brought this subject up in an interview with Entertainment Tonight (via X), conveying that she guessed she was looking forward to “[being] part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” She went on to further note, “I think I’m not allowed to say anything [about who I’m portraying]. I’m old enough to know that the whole thing is a gift and gravy and rare and [I’m] taking it in stride.” Lyonne concluded that she’s “already finished Fantastic Four,” and she’s “in the middle of Poker Face.”

New York Comic Con promotional art offers a look at several upcoming Marvel characters, including a key The Fantastic Four: First Steps team member.

Prior to this, The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman asserted that there are no other heroes in the team’s reality, remarking, “The great thing about this is we’re building a new universe where there are no other heroes. It’s the Fantastic Four.” Shakman also touched upon where he’s pulling inspiration for the ’60s-set MCU reboot, avouching that it’s “a lot about the space race and about voyaging out there,” so First Steps is “partly to do with that idea about exploration.”

“I’m old enough to know that the whole thing is a gift and gravy and rare and [I’m] taking it in stride.”

He further avowed, “The comic was created in the early ’60s, really at the same time that the space race was starting, so it is infused with that idea of looking to the stars and dreaming of a future where we would be space travelers. And so I really wanted to take all of that great stuff from Apollo 11 and just imagine that instead of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, it was the Storms and Ben Grimm and Reed Richards heading off into space.”

Tying into that, Bachrach admitted to not watching the previous adaptations in July.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Is a Character-Driven Story
