Argentina Exports First Shipment of Chilled Beef to El Salvador, Opening New Commercial Opportunities. – El Salvador in English

In a landmark event for trade relations, El Salvador has received its first shipment of chilled Argentine beef this October, following provisional health certification of Argentine processing plants that began in 2023. This entry marks the first time Argentina’s beef industry has accessed the Salvadoran market.

President Nayib Bukele welcomed the new competitor in the market, saying, “With greater competition, prices will decrease, and quality will improve.” The Salvadoran government expects this new supply to benefit local consumers with better quality and more competitive prices in the beef sector.

The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship noted that this deal adds another country to its growing list of international beef destinations, which already includes some of the world’s most demanding markets. This milestone reflects the quality, competitiveness, and rigorous health standards of Argentina’s beef exports.

Foreign Minister Diana Mondino, in a message on the social platform X, announced, “For the first time, we are exporting beef to El Salvador.” The opening of this new market also provides significant commercial opportunities for Argentine processing facilities that complete the necessary health certification processes, expanding Argentina’s footprint in the global meat industry.

A report from the Argentine embassy highlights that El Salvador imported over $200 million in refrigerated and frozen beef in 2023, almost exclusively from Central American suppliers. With the entry of Argentine beef, Salvadoran consumers can expect a broader selection of high-quality beef products at more competitive prices.
