European football: Yildiz double earns Juventus point in 4-4 thriller at Inter | European club football

Piotr Zielinski converted two penalties for Inter as they played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with Juventus, for whom Kenan Yildiz scored a late brace, in Serie A on Sunday.

The five-goal opening half began with Marcus Thuram earning a penalty, which Zielinski converted to give Inter the lead after 15 minutes. Juve equalised five minutes later through Dusan Vlahovic and then took the lead with a strike from Timothy Weah, all within a six-minute span. After Henrikh Mkhitaryan equalised for Inter in the 35th minute, Zielinski scored his second from the penalty spot two minutes later, handing Inter a 3-2 lead going into the break.

The second half began intensely, and in the 53rd minute, Denzel Dumfries scored from a corner to extend Inter’s lead. Yildiz reduced the deficit for Juve in the 71st minute and then scored the equaliser eight minutes from time to secure the draw. Inter are second in the standings with 18 points, four behind Napoli. Juve are third on 17.

Marseille conceded three goals and lost Amine Harit to a straight red card in a nightmare first half as Paris Saint-Germain recorded a resounding 3-0 away win to move three points clear of Monaco at the top of Ligue 1.

The win was PSG’s sixth straight league victory over their bitter rivals with Marseille struggling to contain them from the outset before collapsing rapidly after João Neves broke the deadlock in the seventh minute. Harit was shown a red 13 minutes later for a high challenge on Marquinhos, but video replays indicated that the challenge was relatively harmless.

Things went from bad to worse for Marseille nine minutes later when the defender Leonardo Balerdi poked the ball past Gerónimo Rulli and into his own net to make it 2-0, and winger Bradley Barcola netted his eighth league goal of the season to make it three before the break. The Marseille fans were almost rewarded with a late goal, but Lilian Brassier’s header from a set piece in the 85th minute flew high over the bar.

Bayern Munich swept aside hosts Bochum 5-0 to remain top of the Bundesliga while also putting their heavy midweek loss to Barcelona in the Champions League behind them. Bayern took the lead with a Michael Olise free-kick in the 16th minute and doubled it through the in-form Jamal Musiala in the 26th.

Apart from an early chance, Bochum were no match for Bayern’s power and the visitors struck three more times after the break through Harry Kane, Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman. Bayern are on 20 points, ahead of second-placed RB Leipzig on goal difference. Bayer Leverkusen, the champions, are in third place on 15.
