‘India’s batting got exposed…’- Former Pakistani International Basit Khan takes a dig at the Indian batting collapse against New Zealand

New Delhi: India’s batting failure and consecutive low scores against New Zealand have earned the men in Blue criticism from all corners of the cricketing world. In what became the first defeat for India in 12 years at home, Rohit Sharma’s team has been torn apart by critics over lack of discipline in batting.

Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali also scrutinised

I had said chasing 350-plus will be too difficult. There had to be a ton from one of the top three batters. India’s batting got exposed. In the first match, the Kiwi pacers took 17 wickets. In the second Test, spinners took 19 wickets. India players were neither able to play pacers well nor spinners. On a track that had pace and bounce (Bengaluru), India lost and on a spinning track, India lost as well…

Coming to the series, after losing the 1st and 2nd test matches, the men in blue will look to salvage a win in the three-match test match series against the Kiwis.

When is the 3rd test against New Zealand?

The 3rd test is going to take place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from November 1.

Is Team India prepared for the final frontier against Australia?

While Basit Ali criticised Team India’s lack of preparedness for the ongoing series, the ball did not stop rolling over there. The former Pakistani international also questioned the team’s preparation for the final frontier in Australia. Moreover, Ali feels that the absence of Shami will weigh down heavily on Team India.

Speaking about the absence of Shami from the Australian test, Basit remarked:

I am surprised (mujhe hairat hai) why there is no Mohammed Shami in the squad for the Australia tour…
