Coal India Limited News: Coal India shares in focus, dividend 2024 record date announced for Rs 15.75 per equity share

The Shares of Coal India Limited, a Maharatna company, will remain in focus in the upcoming days because of its corporate action. The state-run company announced a 15.75 percent dividend on each stock for the financial year 2024-25. A dividend is a company’s reward to its investors for their investment in the business. It is paid in cash from earnings.

A dividend is always calculated and paid on the face value of each stock. Accordingly, this translates into Rs 15.75 per equity share on the face value of Rs 10 for FY25. Coal India Limited has said that the payment of the first interim dividend will be completed by November 24, 2024.

This year, Coal India Limited paid dividends of Rs 5.25 in February and Rs 5 in August. Last year, the state-run company announced a dividend of Rs 5.25 in February, Rs 4 in August, and Rs 15.25 in November. In 2022, the PSU company declared dividends of Rs 5 in February, Rs 3 in August, and Rs 15 in November. At the current market price, the dividend yield of Coal India Limited is 5.75 percent.

Coal India is part of the BSE 100. According to BSE analytics as of November 2, shares of Coal India Limited experienced a negative return of 1.46% over the past week and 7.67% over the last two weeks. In the past month, the company’s shares decreased by 10.62%, and they fell by 15.90% over the last three months. Year-to-date (YTD), shares of this public sector unit (PSU) have gained 19.02%. 

Over the past year, the shares increased by 48.16%; over two years, they rose by 85.02%; over three years, the increase was 166.28%; over five years, they climbed by 119.20%; and over ten years, they went up by 23.03%.
