IMD weather update: South Peninsular India, Tamil Nadu receives heavy rainfall – India News
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported heavy rainfall across South Peninsular India, particularly in Tamil Nadu, due to a deep circulation in the Gulf of Mannar. The IMD noted that while the southern region has experienced significant downpours, there have been no reports of heavy rainfall from other parts of the country. The forecast indicates that heavy rainfall is likely to persist in Tamil Nadu and Kerala over the next two to three days, with most other areas expected to remain clear.
Temperature Changes Across Northwest and East India
IMD scientist Soma Sen Roy stated that there has been a gradual decline in minimum and maximum temperatures across Northwest and East India, with a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius expected during the period from November 3 to November 7. In particular, the Doab region has reported a decrease in temperature, although areas like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh remain 2 to 4 degrees above normal.
Given the adverse weather conditions, the IMD has issued advisories urging residents to stay indoors and limit travel when possible. Residents are advised to ensure that children and animals are kept safe indoors and to remove any loose timber or debris that could pose a danger. Those who must venture outside should avoid metal structures and utility lines and refrain from using corded phones and electrical equipment that could conduct lightning. The IMD will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
