The Creative Tourism Network is very honored to intervene in the 9th UN Tourism World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism, organized in Manama – Bahrain next November 18-19 – by the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) and its Affiliate Member, the Basque Culinary Center (BCC), jointly with the Government of Bahrain,

Under the theme “Gastronomy Tourism: A Driver of Economic Diversification and Inclusion”, the Forum will convene, through panel discussions, presentations, masterclasses, and thematic visits, destinations, and international experts to explore the transformative potential of Gastronomy Tourism to become a driver of economic diversification and inclusion, fostering social and environmental sustainability, and enhancing regional cohesion and resilience of local communities.

Held for the first time in the Middle East, the Forum will bring together global leaders, policymakers, industry experts, and renowned chefs, to unveil how gastronomy tourism can also build a strong image for destinations, through innovative practices and initiatives worldwide.
In line with discussions on leveraging intangible cultural heritage, the forum will explore key themes such as the use of intellectual property and branding to enhance destination branding, the preservation of culinary heritage and biodiversity, and the promotion of authentic, immersive cultural experiences that engage the entire gastronomy tourism value chain.

In this sense, the founder of the Creative Tourism Network, Caroline Couret, will lead a Masterclass on the topic: “Building Culinary Routes and Product Clubs to Engage the Entire Gastronomy Tourism Value Chain”. This session will showcase how destinations can inventory local
gastronomic products and traditions to create engaging culinary routes. It will highlight strategies for involving local communities in the gastronomy tourism chain through training and capacity-building. Participants will learn how to establish sustainable tourism models that benefit local communities while offering tourists authentic culinary experiences.

The UN Tourism World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism was created to promote the exchange of experiences between experts in tourism and gastronomy, identify good practices, and promote gastronomy tourism as a factor in destination development.
