Community and music converge in WNC for Rock for Relief festival
HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A group of WNC citizens volunteered their time and efforts to coordinate a flood relief benefit festival in Haywood County and surrounding North Carolina areas on Saturday, Nov. 2nd.
Rock for Relief WNC is an event centered around providing a place where friends and family can enjoy and feel a sense of normalcy, uplifting spirits and strengthening community bonds as the community works to rebuild.

The event featured over 50 bands in over 15 venues, including local artist Andrew Scotchie, who volunteered to perform at the festival.
“The past month has really felt like a year for a lot of people,” Scotchie said. “I’ve had strangers turn into neighbors in this whole thing and it’s been a good reminder that people want to take care of one another, no matter how crazy the world is.”
Other artists featured at the festival included the Andrew Thelston Band, The Get Right Band, Bridget Gossett, Rene Russell, Watkins, Rich Manz Trio, Len Graham & Paul Koptak, and more.
The event was free to the public, with all donations made to Rock for Relief’s musician’s fund going toward musicians directly affected by Hurricane Helene.
