Sivakarthikeyan’s film shocks trade experts; already in profit zone

Amaran is Sai Pallavi and Sivakarthikeyan’s latest film, which has been declared a smash hit at the box office. Based on the life of the late Major Mukunda Varadarajan, Amaran was released on a relatively low note in Telugu. With two other significant releases, Lucky Baskhar and KA, Amaran didn’t initially secure sufficient screens.

However, the day-one collections of the film surprised everyone, as Amaran made close to Rs 4 crore on its first day in the Telugu states. With strong word-of-mouth, the action drama has now made Rs 11 crore in the Telugu states to date, a notable figure that has taken many by surprise.

This success is largely attributed to Sai Pallavi’s popularity in the Telugu states. Every film she appears in seems to perform exceptionally well here. When news spread of her outstanding performance, audiences flocked to theaters to watch Amaran in Telugu.

The film’s occupancy rate on a key Sunday was close to 80%, an impressive feat for a Tamil film dubbed in Telugu. While Sivakarthikeyan is known, he isn’t typically expected to draw such high collections in this region.

The movie’s success is set to bring solid profits to those involved in its distribution in the Telugu states. Despite the competition, Amaran has carved out its own audience in cities like Hyderabad and Vizag.

Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Kamal Haasan, the film received an additional boost when the legendary actor Rajinikanth praised it, taking its momentum to the next level.

For the Telugu audience, though, Sai Pallavi has been the real draw. Her portrayal of Indu, the wife of the late Major Mukund, has moved audiences emotionally. It will be interesting to see how Amaran performs in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates on this film.
