Ammon News – The Amman Chamber of Commerce reported a 3 percent increase in the value of certificates of origin for goods and commodities exported to Arab and foreign countries since the beginning of 2024, reaching JD 1.176 billion over the past ten months compared to JD 1.142 billion for the same period in 2023.

According to chamber statistics, the number of certificates of origin issued also saw a rise of 9.9 percent, totaling 33,633 certificates, up from 30,594 certificates during the same time-frame last year.

Geographically, Saudi Arabia led in certificate issuance with 10,189 certificates, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 3,537, Iraq with 2,193, Egypt with 1,009, and Switzerland with 24 certificates. In terms of export value, Iraq ranked first at JD 582 million, followed by Saudi Arabia with JD 102 million, Egypt with JD 90 million, the Emirates with JD 71 million, and Switzerland with JD 50 million.

The breakdown of exports by category indicated that foreign products (re-exports) led with JD 589 million, followed by industrial products at JD 246 million, agricultural products at JD 163 million, and Arab products at JD 76 million.

Certificates of origin play a critical role in international trade, confirming the country of production or processing of goods. Issued by the Amman Chamber of Commerce, these certificates facilitate customs procedures by verifying goods’ eligibility for import tariffs and the origin status required by importing countries.

The chamber issues certificates of origin for a range of products, including Jordanian agricultural and animal goods, natural resources, and foreign goods intended for re-export or purchased locally under specific criteria.

For Jordanian industrial exports, the chamber issues these certificates based on original, certified factory invoices and corresponding documentation per Article (29) of the Jordanian Chambers of Commerce Regulation No. (45) of 2009 and the 2013 Instructions for Issuing Certificates of Origin.
