Capital raised in the Spanish M&A market grows 19% in 2024
The Spanish transactional market has registered up to October a total of 2,647 deals with an aggregate amount of EUR 81,352m, according to TTR Data‘s monthly report. These figures represent a 2% increase in the number of transactions, as well as a 19% rise in capital raised, compared to the same period in 2023.
As for the month of October, a total of 248 mergers and acquisitions were recorded, between announced and closed, for an aggregate amount of approximately EUR 5,019m. In terms of sectors, the Real Estate sector was the most active of the year, with a total of 501 transactions, followed by the Internet, Software and IT Services sector, with 260.
The TTR Data ranking of legal advisors, by number of transactions, is led in 2024 by Cuatrecasas Spain, with 153 deals, followed by Garrigues Spain, with 128 transactions. By amount, Uría Menéndez Spain and Garrigues, with EUR 29,454m and EUR 28,515m, respectively, led the ranking in the course of the year.
Cross-Border
As regards the Cross-Border market, up to October 2024, Spanish companies have chosen Portugal and the United States as their main investment destinations, with 59 and 52 transactions, respectively.
On the other hand, the United States and France, with 164 and 151 transactions, respectively, are the countries that have made the greatest number of investments in Spain. By amount, the United States stands out, with EUR 11,182m.
Private Equity, Venture Capital and Asset Acquisitions
Up to October, a total of 327 Private Equity transactions for EUR 24,318m have been recorded, representing a decrease of approximately 5% in the number of transactions, and an increase of approximately 43% in the amount of transactions, compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the Venture Capital market, 496 transactions with an aggregate amount of EUR 2,697m were completed, representing a decrease of approximately 11% in the number of transactions and a decrease of approximately 1% in the amount of transactions, year-on-year.
In the Asset Acquisitions segment, 711 transactions were recorded for an aggregate amount of EUR 11,938m, representing a decrease of approximately 1% in the number of transactions, and an increase of approximately 64% in the amount of transactions, on a year-on-year basis.
