Two Man City stars given just TWO out of 10 as they are torn apart in brutal L’Equipe ratings after 4-1 defeat by Sporting Lisbon
Manchester City’s stars were torn apart in L’Equipe’s players ratings after suffering a 4-1 defeat by Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s side had a night to forget as Viktor Gyokeres – who scored three – and Maximiliano Araujo found the back of the net to secure the hosts three points.
It was yet another concerning result for City who have suffered three defeats on the bounce amid an ongoing injury crisis with the Premier League champions.
And, unfortunately for those that played, the visiting side were given brutally low ratings by French outlet L’Equipe after the underwhelming display.
The two lowest ratings were given out to defenders Josko Gvardiol and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey – who were both rated two out of 10.

The full-back and centre-back on the night did endure a difficult evening as Swedish star Gyokeres scored a hat-trick on the night – as well as missing a huge opportunity.
It wasn’t just Gvardiol and Simpson-Pusey who were singled out, however. There were a trio of players who scored just three out of 10 – with Erling Haaland, Mateo Kovacic and Savinho all included.
It was a frustrating night for Norwegian star Haaland who was nullified throughout and missed a late penalty after watching his effort cannon off the bar.
Elsewhere, Rico Lewis, Ederson and Bernardo Silva were all handed a four out of 10 rating – while Matheus Nunes and Manuel Akanji received a five out of 10.
The highest rated member of City’s cohort was Phil Foden – their only goalscorer on the night – who picked up a six out of 10 rating.
Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon had a number of high-rated players – with Swedish star Gyokeres earning an eight out of 10 for his fantastic goalscoring display.
Inbound Man United boss Ruben Amorim earned a seven out of 10 rating for helping mastermind Sporting’s success – while Guardiola picked up just a three.
After the match, Bernardo Silva admitted that City are ‘in a dark place’ after three consecutive competitive defeats for the first time in six years.

‘Even when we are playing well we don’t score our chances and we concede too easily,’ Silva lamented.
‘We definitely need to look inside and check what we’re not doing well. And we need to get better very quickly otherwise it will be very difficult to come back from these losses.
‘It’s disappointing because we’re in a dark place right now. Everything looks to be going in the wrong way.
‘It’s difficult to find reasons for what is happening to us. I don’t remember this team losing three games in a row. It just looks like this team is going the wrong way now.’
