World Bank and UK Launch Comprehensive Cybersecurity Assessment Initiative in Armenia
In a significant move to bolster Armenia’s digital infrastructure, the World Bank and the UK Government have partnered with Armenia’s Ministry of High-Tech Industry to launch a nationwide cybersecurity maturity assessment program. The initiative, unveiled today, marks a crucial step toward strengthening the country’s digital resilience and security framework.
The launch event featured prominent figures including UK Ambassador to Armenia John Gallagher, Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gevorg Mantashyan, and World Bank Armenia representative Arman Vatyan. This collaborative effort aims to evaluate and enhance Armenia’s cybersecurity capabilities while supporting the government’s broader vision of digital transformation as a catalyst for economic growth and social inclusion.
Using the Cybersecurity Capacity Maturity Model, the assessment will examine national-level vulnerabilities and strengths, providing targeted recommendations to the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and the Information Systems Agency. The initiative will particularly focus on sectors delivering essential public services that are transitioning to digital platforms.
A key component of the program involves coordination with Armenia’s newly established national cybersecurity incident response team (am-cert.am). The assessment’s findings will contribute to developing a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing the country’s cybersecurity infrastructure and digital resilience, ultimately aiming to build greater public trust in digital services across Armenia.
