Georgia in “historic high” spot in World Bank’s gov’t effectiveness index, ahead of 12 EU states, 14 NATO allies

Georgian Deputy Finance Minister Mikheil Dundua on Thursday said the country had reached a “historic high” position in the government effectiveness index, a ranking of state capacity developed by the World Bank Group.

Dundua said Georgia had risen to the 35th position among World Bank member countries, surpassing 12 European Union member states, 14 NATO allies, one G7 nation, and all EU candidate countries.

This is a very important achievement. A good result was also achieved in corruption control, as seven out of nine international evaluators ranked Georgia among the top 20 countries surveyed, placing it as one of the best in Europe. This success is very important”, he said.

The Deputy Minister added Georgia was continuing to make “convincing progress” in terms of integrity and efficiency of government, alongside “high” economic growth, which he said would be “reflected in the well-being of the population”.
