Bhubaneswar: Deputy chief minister Pravati Parida on Wednesday inaugurated an Odisha pavilion at World Travel Market (WTM) London 2024, marking a significant step in promoting the state’s tourist destinations to British and European markets. The inauguration was attended by India’s High Commissioner to UK, Vikram Doraiswami, and other dignitaries.
“The Odisha pavilion features immersive displays of iconic attractions including the Konark Sun Temple, Jagannath Temple in Puri, Chilika Lake and the state’s pristine beaches and wildlife reserves. The exhibition highlights niche tourism products such as Eco Retreat, nature camps and water sports activities,” a govt statement said.
During the three-day event, the Odisha delegation engaged in crucial meetings with key investors and tourism stakeholders. Discussions were held with Yasin Zargar, director of Indus Experiences, among others, focusing on promoting Odisha in the UK. The delegation also met industry leaders to discuss investment opportunities in tourism infrastructure and skill development initiatives.
Parida said, “Odisha’s cultural heritage, scenic beauty and rich traditions make it a uniquely appealing destination. We look forward to engaging with UK and European tourism stakeholders to welcome more travellers to Odisha.”
The state delegation also held discussions on wedding tourism and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) opportunities. A roundtable with 17 wedding and event planners was held to identify key focus areas for promoting these sectors.
