The Fall 2024 concert season is in full swing for the students and faculty involved with the University of North Dakota Music. They have already had so many incredible performances this semester and will only continue to showcase their talents in various ways throughout the rest of the semester. From solo students to large ensemble performances, they will continue to showcase the talents of UND students through different styles and genres of music.
There are only a few more large performances set to take place this semester. The soonest being the Percussion Ensemble recital that will be held in the Josephine Campbell Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on November 13. The Percussion Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Jason Kihle and will be showcasing the pieces they have worked on throughout the semester.
Later on in the month, The UND Jazz Ensembles will be holding a concert at the Empire Arts Center downtown on November 20 at 7:30 p.m. There are multiple different Jazz Ensemble groups at UND consisting of both music students and non-music students who have a shared love for performing jazz music. This concert will feature the works of these groups.
December will be filled with many opportunities to hear some incredible music. Including the Wind Ensemble concert at 7:30 p.m. on December 3 at the Chester Fritz Auditorium. The Wind Ensemble is one of the two concert bands here at UND that is directed by Dr. James Popejoy. They will be showcasing a variety of works of music that they have been perfecting throughout the past semester.

On the day after the Chamber Orchestra concert, the University Band and One O’clock Jazz Concert will take place on December 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Union. The One O’clock Jazz group is directed by Rob Brooks, and they will be performing the music they work on during their usual 1 p.m. rehearsal time.
The final and perhaps the most exciting performance of December is the annual Winter wUNDerland Concert. This family holiday concert will feature the music of the various choral groups here at UND as they showcase their seasonal repertoire of holiday and winter themed music. Along with the large choral groups, there will also be smaller group performances from singers and instrumentalists throughout the concert. This holiday concert has been a tradition at UND for years and is highly anticipated each season.
As we begin to near the end of the semester, you might be looking for ways to make the most of your time and to find ways to de-stress as homework and exams start to take up more energy. Going out to support the musicians of UND can be a great way to relax and take in some incredible music. There are just a few more opportunities to do this, so consider taking the time to experience the talent that will be showcased in these performances.
