Summit High School cross-country athletes named to all-state teams

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, the Colorado High School Activities Association announced the 2024 girls and boys cross-country all-state teams.

Presented by CHSAANow.com and MaxPreps.com, teams were created for each classification based on the results from the state cross-country meet in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Nov. 2.

The top seven individual finishers in each classification were named all-state first team with the next seven being named to the second team. The rest of the top 50 finishers subsequently earned honorable mention.

Nine Summit athletes were named to one of the all-state teams in the 4A classification.

Claiming her second cross-country state title, Hagen was named to the 4A girls all-state first team and was also named the female runner of the year. Matching his 10th place finish from last year’s 4A boys state meet, senior Josh Shriver earned all-state second team honors.

Seven additional Summit athletes were named to the all-state honorable mention team. Athletes included freshman Sophie Dinse (22nd), sophomore Jay McDonald (27th), senior Avery Eytel (34th), senior Will Bentley (37th) sophomore Lily Benbow (39th), junior Carter Niemkiewicz (40th) and freshman Paige Ratiff (44th).

Cheyenne Mountain High School’s Aiden Le Roux was named the 4A boys runner of the year, while Thompson Valley High School’s Kris Christensen was honored as the 4A boys coach of the year. Matt Miltenberg of Timnath High School was named the 4A girls coach of the year.
