What’s the story

Toyota is preparing to launch the ninth-generation Camry XV80 in India by early 2025.

The new model will be displayed at the Bharat Mobility Show ahead of its official launch.

It will continue to be locally assembled, following the tradition Toyota has maintained since the XV30’s debut in 2002.

The upcoming Camry will keep its strong hybrid identity, focusing on backseat comfort, fuel efficiency, and reliability as key selling points.

A look at the design

The ninth-generation Camry has undergone a design evolution. It is slightly longer but retains the same wheelbase as the current model.

The new Camry’s front, especially its chin, flaunts a Lexus-inspired anvil shape with added layering at the bottom and wide ‘brackets’ on either side for added width.

The premium sedan also sports a narrow slot-like ‘grille’ spanning from one headlight to another, compact headlight pods with LED DRLs, and more defining body lines.

Interior and comfort features

The new Camry’s interior design is cleaner and more sophisticated, with subtle chrome accents enhancing the two-tone cabin.

The car offers a larger screen with wireless Apple CarPlay integration, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as dynamic radar cruise control with curve speed reduction, lane departure alert with steering assist, pre-collision braking system, safe exit assist as well as an optional factory-fitted dash cam.

The rear seats comes with ventilation as well as recline function.

Power and efficiency

The new Camry is more powerful, offering a combined output of 227hp from its engine and strong-hybrid system.

It also promises better fuel efficiency with a claimed figure of 25km/l, up from the current model’s 19.1km/l.

This increase in both performance and efficiency could easily mean real-world fuel economy of over 20km/l under Indian driving conditions.

It is likely to be priced at around ₹46 lakh (ex-showroom).
